The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a

* Flood Watch for portions of north central Georgia... northeast
Georgia and west central Georgia... including the following
areas... in north central Georgia... Barrow... Clayton... Dawson...
   DeKalb... Fayette... Forsyth... Gwinnett... Hall... Henry...
Lumpkin... Newton... north Fulton... Rockdale... South Fulton and
Walton. In northeast Georgia... banks... Clarke... Jackson...
Madison... Oconee and white. In west central Georgia... Coweta
and Spalding.

* From this evening through Monday afternoon

* rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are expected, with the bulk
of the rainfall occurring tonight and Monday morning.

* Even with somewhat dry soil conditions, rainfall this intense
will likely lead to rises in creeks and rivers which may go out
of their banks. High water will not recede until well after the
rain has ended.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.

Monday...

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a Wind
Advisory, which is in effect from 8 PM this evening to 7 am EDT
Monday.

* Locations... much of north and central Georgia, west of an Athens
to Abbeville line. Elevations above 2000ft will see even greater
impacts.

* Winds... east winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts of 35 to 40 mph.
Gusts to 45 mph likely at higher elevations.

* Timing... tonight

* impacts... with heavy rainfall during this time, some trees may
be downed. Unsecured outdoor items may be blown around.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory means that sustained wind speeds of at least
20 mph... or gusts to 35 mph or stronger are expected. Winds this
strong can make driving difficult... especially for high profile
vehicles. Use extra caution.
