... Flood Warning extended until late Friday night...

The Flood Warning continues for
the Skokomish River near Potlatch
* until late Friday night.
* At 8:45 PM Thursday the stage was 17.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 17.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river has crested and will continue to fall to below
flood stage Friday afternoon.
* Impact... at 17.0 feet, the Skokomish River will cause widespread
flooding of pasture lands... with water flowing quickly over west
bourgault Road and Skokomish Valley Road.

Areal Flood Watch

... Flood Watch now in effect through late tonight...

The Flood Watch is now in effect for

* portions of northwest Washington and west central Washington,
including the following counties, in northwest Washington,
Clallam, Grays Harbor, Jefferson, and Whatcom. In west central
Washington, King, Lewis, Pierce, and Snohomish.

* Through late tonight

* a cold front was moving across western Washington this afternoon
and will weaken over the Cascades through late this afternoon,
allowing rain to gradually diminish. Cooler air moving over the
area behind the front will lower snow level to around 4000 feet
by early this evening.

* Flooding is already occurring on many western Washington rivers.
With this second round of rainfall, there is a possibility that
flooding will become more widespread and/or prolonged. There is
at least a minor threat that any flood-prone river in our area
reaching flood stage through tonight.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.

... Significant rainfall this week has increased the landslide threat
in western Washington through at least Friday...

Recent rainfall has increased soil moisture to high levels across
western Washington. Additional heavy rainfall occurred Wednesday
night through early Thursday afternoon. Lowland areas got another
quarter to one inch of rain during this period, which should
maintain the heightened threat of landslides.
